Visitor & Super Visa

Anyone planning a temporary visit to Canada — including tourists — needs temporary resident status before arrival. There are three main visitor visa types.

A single-entry visa allows one entry only; it becomes invalid the moment you leave Canada, even before its printed expiry date.

A multiple-entry visa allows unlimited re-entries until it expires, with each stay capped at up to six months — subject to the discretion of the border officer at entry.

The Super Visa is designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. It is valid for up to 10 years, with each stay allowed up to 5 years. It requires a formal invitation from the Canadian child or grandchild (aged 18+) and proof that the inviter can financially support the visitor for the duration of the stay.
