The final step: a Canadian passport

Overview

Permanent residents of Canada can apply for citizenship — and a Canadian passport — after accumulating 1,095 days (three of the last five years) of physical presence in Canada.

Applicants aged 18 to 65 must pass the citizenship test, which covers the rights of Canadians, Canadian law, and Canadian history, and must demonstrate adequate ability in English or French.
